Holly Hixson is a Project Coordinator at NewCities and leads the Global Urban Innovators program. Residing in Montreal, Quebec, Holly is a city-enthusiast with a master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Amsterdam and studied Psychology at the University of Oregon. She has worked in Portland, Copenhagen, Montreal, and Amsterdam and her approach centers quality of life, sustainability, and equity at the heart of urban policy and design.

Hi, I am Katelyn Robeson and I am currently a third year landscape architecture student at Texas A&M University. I find myself drawn to creating sustainable and innovative landscapes that are multi-functional in providing spaces for people and the healing of our environment. Landscape architecture gives us an innate opportunity to enhance the natural beauty of nature while protecting it for future generations. For the purpose of this project I am the multi-scalar team’s system integration lead. I have the unique opportunity to find harmony and relationships between blue, greed, and human infrastructure systems to create a more gentle and efficient farming system to mitigate polluted waterways. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exercising, and cooking. I believe it is important to keep an open mind, as it is the only way new ideas can get in.

Hello! I am Alexandra Welsh. I am a third year Landscape Architecture Student while double minoring in Urban Planning and Business. I am passionate about the future of Landscape Architecture because it is the core profession that designs and develops sustainable environments suitable for positive human interaction while supporting the existing and unforeseen ecosystems. My role in this project is the blue infrastructure lead. It is my duty to design methods a society can utilize if devastating, unforeseen circumstances if they were to occur. These methods include, but are not limited to, water biofiltration in large quantities, hydroponics, and aquaponics. In my free time, I enjoy cooking with friends, traveling to state parks, and growing in my faith.

I’m Madeleine Shay, and I am a junior landscape architecture student at Texas A&M University. I am passionate about people and using landscape architecture to connect them to nature and others. My dream job would be to design either therapeutic gardens for hospitals, seasonal installations for botanical gardens, or vineyards for wineries. My current role is as the Geo Lead in the all regions group. In my free time, you can find me trying a new coffee shop, playing with my dog, or on my porch with a good book.

My name is Austin Bartula and I am a Junior landscape architecture major from Houston Texas. My goal through this profession is to design projects that will bring people together without hurting the environment. My project role is to design the Human Lead interaction. My hobbies include playing golf, traveling, cooking, and skiing.

My name is Justin Carver and I am a junior landscape architecture major from Bryan, Texas. I am interested in creating enjoyable and functional spaces, while solving environmental issues, On the East Texas team, I am the Green System leader and my goal for this project is to redesign East Texas so that it can be functional to human needs, but help save the Monarch Butterfly species. In my free time I like to golf, fish and spend time with friends.

My name is Jonathan Alvarez and I am a third year in the Landscape Architecture program at Texas A&M University. My interest in the field of Landscape Architecture is mostly motivated by wanting to see how people use the space and how we as designers create successful spaces. I will be overseeing how to integrate the systems the East Texas group will propose. My mission is to create an area that people will want to go and visit and create a personal connection with all while maintaining an emphasis on nature, water and social aspects. My personal hobbies include drawing, listening to music and playing soccer and learning about history.

My name is Evan Burson and my favorite parts of landscape architecture is thinking of creative design solutions and creating graphic renderings to express my ideas. The position I take as a designer is to provide solutions to problems others can not solve. As the human infrastructure lead my goal is to find the best solution to human transit. Anytime I encounter a project I use my passion of design to figure out an effective design solution. Outside of school I like to stay active and play golf when the weather is nice.
